Hello! I'm Nyssa.
I’m an experienced freelance web developer & designer with a passion for helping small businesses thrive online. With over 15 years of industry experience, I’ve honed my skills and expertise in WordPress and Shopify
I hold a BSc degree in Computer Science from Waikato University, New Zealand, which provided me with a solid foundation in web development. Proficient in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, and Photoshop, I possess a comprehensive skill set to bring your web projects to life.
I started freelancing as a web developer & designer in Sydney shortly after my son started primary school in 2012, and found that it allowed me the flexibility to provide him with the support he needed, and not miss out on those important moments, while still working in an industry I love.
As well, freelancing allows me to connect directly with my clients on a more personal level that working for an agency didn’t allow.
My family consists of my neurodiverse son, who has now entered high-school, two cats, and a varied amount of fish, along with our plant-babies. As well as a couple of wild cockatoos that have recently adopted me.
When I’m not designing and building websites, I’m a wee bit of a geek, and enjoy board games, reading, and delving into learning more about a whole range of science topics.
IT ALL STARTED AS A DARE
My Web Design Journey
In the face of scepticism about women learning code, I took on a dare, and embraced the opportunity to prove them wrong.
And not only did I shatter those stereotypes, but I also uncovered an innate passion for web development.
Recognising the need to solidify my skills, I pursued a B.Sc in Computer Science from the University of Waikato.
Despite being one of the few women in my class, I surpassed expectations and excelled, consistently ranking at the top.
An exciting job opportunity arose in Australia, and I embraced the chance to join a small team of talented Graphic Designers.
Collaborating with them, I brought their creative visions to life. This provided invaluable insights into the visual aspect of web development.
As my son began school, I sought a flexible career path that would accommodate my family’s needs. Taking the leap, I ventured into freelancing and established my own successful business.
Over the past decade, I have honed my skills, and have worked with hundreds of amazing small business owners.
